Le Parti socialiste genevois est né en octobre 1939 d'une scission du Parti socialiste de Genève animée par les opposants à Léon Nicole, tout juste exclu du Parti socialiste suisse (PSS) du fait de ses positons pro-soviétiques. Animé par Charles Rosselet et André Oltramare, il devient la nouvelle section genevoise du PSS.
